Velocity CMS is an AI-powered, multi-vendor content and listing platform powering a growing network of smart city discovery sites — including Pretoria.co.za, Joburg.co.za, CapeTown.city, Durbs.co.za, and Lisboa.app.

Each platform helps citizens and visitors discover local businesses, events, experiences, and services — powered by AI content generation, smart concierge functionality, and a city-specific vendor ecosystem.

We’re building the next generation of city platforms. And now, we’re looking for a high-impact Growth Marketer to lead and scale our multi-city growth strategy from the ground up.

You will be responsible for capturing and editing engaging, high-quality content that brings the spirit of Johannesburg and Pretoria to life across social media platforms.

 

Your Mission

You’ll be responsible for driving full-funnel growth across our platforms — acquiring users, onboarding vendors, running high-performing campaigns, and building a performance-driven culture of experimentation.

You’ll work closely with our Social Strategist, Content Lead, Community Manager, and Product Owner to build sustainable growth loops that fuel engagement and visibility across multiple cities.

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & Execution

  • Own and execute multi-channel growth strategy across SEO, paid, email, and organic

  • Build and optimize city-specific landing pages and funnels for both B2C and B2B

  • Launch fast, lean experiments to validate and scale what works

Performance Marketing & Retargeting

  • Manage paid campaigns across Google, Meta, and TikTok

  • Launch and scale retargeting campaigns segmented by city, audience, and behavior

  • Test and iterate ad creative, messaging, and channel mix in close collaboration with our Social Strategist and Designer

CRM & Lifecycle Campaigns

  • Build onboarding, reactivation, and lead nurturing journeys across vendors and users

  • Manage city-specific newsletters and cross-channel drip campaigns

  • Optimize subscriber growth and engagement across platforms

Analytics & Optimization

  • Own tracking and attribution across GA4, GTM, Meta Pixel, and Looker Studio

  • Monitor CAC, CTR, LTV, conversion funnels, and vendor lead quality

  • Deliver clear reports and insights that fuel roadmap decisions

SEO & Content Strategy

  • Work with the SEO Consultant and Content Lead to grow traffic through high-intent organic keywords

  • Identify local trends and content gaps across categories (e.g. food, events, lifestyle)

  • Contribute to the amplification of top-performing articles and guides

Social Growth & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Social Strategist to ensure organic and paid efforts are aligned

  • Support rollouts for influencer campaigns, event promotions, “Top 10” campaigns, and seasonal moments

  • Translate social insights and viral wins into paid growth experiments

Community & Vendor Growth Loops

  • Collaborate with the Community Manager to surface local campaigns, creator partnerships, and grassroots visibility

  • Build referral campaigns, creator co-marketing activations, and “list your business” flows to drive vendor acquisition

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience

5+ years in growth or digital marketing roles at high-growth platforms, media businesses, or marketplaces

Channels

Strong working knowledge of paid social, SEO, lifecycle/CRM, and on-page optimization

Tools

Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio, Meta Ads, Google Ads, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Zapier

Mindset

Analytical and creative, hands-on, results-driven, scrappy but strategic

Writing

Can craft effective ad copy, landing page CTAs, and high-converting emails

Bonus

Familiarity with South African metros, local content discovery, or vendor ecosystems
